TEND
Internalv1 · 2026-05-15

AI that knows your business by name.

Tend is configured AI for businesses. Not a chatbot. A working partner with a memory layer you own and a service team behind it.

ChatGPT is powerful. And forgetful.

Every conversation starts from zero. It doesn't know your business, your numbers, your people, or your voice. You bring all the context. It forgets you by tomorrow.

Meanwhile, your operations are still run by humans doing things that a properly-configured AI could do better, faster, and around the clock. Customer recall sequences. Lead qualification. Meeting briefs. Competitive research. Daily rollups. None of these need a human. All of them need configuration.

The gap isn't AI capability. It's AI configuration. That's what Tend sells.

Three things, one product.

1. A configured agent

Knows your business — your data, your team, your customers, your voice. Same capability as ChatGPT or Claude under the hood. Configured deeply enough that it actually works for *your* business, not someone's hypothetical business.

2. A markdown data layer

Your business as a wiki of editable markdown files. You own it. You can read it, change it, audit it, export it. This is the memory the agent uses. It's not a black box — it's a folder of documents you can open.

3. A service layer

We maintain your agent. Security checks, version upgrades, model optimization, weekly tuning. We don't ship and forget. The agent gets sharper every month because our team is working on it.

This is the moat. Anyone can wrap an LLM. We configure deeply, we own the data-layer pattern (editable markdown wiki), and we keep working on your agent every month. That third leg is what makes us services-plus-software, not pure SaaS — and what makes us defensible against OpenAI/Anthropic shipping Custom GPT 2.0 next year.

One platform, two motions.

Same skeleton. Different inhabitants. Sold differently.

Sales-led · vertical · team
Tend Business
From $12,500 / month

For teams in a specific vertical. Multi-tenant workspace with a company-owned agentic system.

  • Tend-led onboarding via stakeholder interviews
  • Company-owned markdown data layer with permission tiers
  • Multi-tenant Operation Room with seats
  • Module toggles (CRM, scheduling, comms, research, etc.)
  • Vertical-specific agentic workflows built for the industry
  • 3-role permission model: Owner / Member / Viewer
  • Approval gates with human-in-the-loop on critical actions
Dental practices at v1. Then real estate, legal, or churches as the next vertical.

Beyond Business sits Tend Enterprise / Custom Builds — bespoke workshop engagements for customers whose needs go past Business's module set. Custom infra, custom governance, regulated workflows, multi-entity rollouts. Custom proposal, internal floor ~$200K.

The Think / Operate / Build framework from earlier iterations is officially dead. Solo gets the full agent — we don't nerf capability to create tiers. The differentiation between Solo and Business is configuration depth + interface + service, not what the agent can do.

The same skeleton, two configurations.

Solo and Business share the same four components. What changes is who configures, who owns the memory, and the multi-tenancy layer.

Configuration Room

Interview-style configurator agent. Asks who you are, what you do, what matters. You answer via text, voice messages, or file uploads. Markdown files appear on the right pane in real time. You edit and approve.

Operation Room

Chat with the agent. It uses the data layer to do real work. Reachable via web, Telegram, WhatsApp. Cron jobs run scheduled tasks automatically with connector integrations.

Data Layer — the markdown wiki

Your business as a folder of editable markdown files. The source of truth the agent reads. You own it. You can audit it, edit it, export it.

Dashboard

Companion health, system health, memory health (drift detection), artifacts shipped, cron jobs running. The SaaS surface where you see what's happening.

Service Layer (us, behind it)

Security checks, version maintenance, model optimization batched across all clients, weekly tuning. The reason your Tend agent runs at standard.

What differs between Solo and Business

Engineering implication: one platform, two configurations. Same components, same data model, same dashboard shell. We're not building three products. We're building one and configuring it differently per motion. Huge simplification vs the V2 plan.

Tend Business v1 is built for dentists.

Why dental

Workflow rollout — staged by HIPAA exposure

Phase 1 · Weeks 4–12 · No PHI

Ships fast, no HIPAA infra needed

  • New-patient acquisition (marketing, lead capture, qualification, intake)
  • Recall and reactivation campaigns
  • Competitor and market research
  • Supply sourcing and vendor comparison
  • Reputation management (review monitoring + responses)
  • Practice analytics (aggregated KPIs)
Phase 2 · Weeks 12–20 · PHI-eligible

After BAA + HIPAA-grade hosting

  • Treatment plan follow-up
  • Insurance verification workflows
  • Detailed patient-facing communications
  • Chart-aware briefings for the dentist
  • Outcome tracking and patient cohort analysis
HIPAA staging is deliberate. Phase 1 ships on workflows that don't ingest PHI — buys us 4–8 weeks of engineering speed and gets revenue in before we tackle compliance infrastructure. Phase 2 adds HIPAA-grade hosting + BAAs once Phase 1 is validated. If HIPAA proves a bigger obstacle than expected, network-backed pivot options are real estate, legal, or churches.

The wrapper is not the moat.

In 12 months OpenAI and Anthropic will ship most of what a basic AI wrapper does. We've designed Tend so the wrapper is the artifact, not the product. The actual moat is somewhere else.

01
Service depth

Real humans sit with customers, map their business, write the config, iterate weekly. Big platforms won't do this — they can't, at their scale. We can.

02
Operate that runs

Configured systems that do work end-to-end with humans-in-the-loop where needed. Big platforms ship building blocks. We ship the system.

03
Vertical IP

A compounding library of dental-specific workflows, prompts, integrations, and operational know-how. Every customer makes the next one easier.

What we are: a services-plus-software company that delivers via a software product. Not a pure SaaS. Margins reflect ongoing service. Investor narrative is closer to vertical-AI (Palantir, Harvey, Hippocratic) than to horizontal SaaS (Slack, Notion). This reframing matters for how we hire (configurators + customer success early, not just engineers), how we price (monthly = ongoing service, not just access), and how we tell the story to capital.

Three doors, monthly subscription only.

Product Price Buying motion
Tend Solo $2,500 / mo flat Self-serve. Online today. Onboarding call scheduled at purchase.
Tend Business From $12,500 / mo Sales-led. Base platform + per-seat scaling + module add-ons. Vertical-specific (dental at v1).
Tend Enterprise / Custom Custom proposal Bespoke workshop. Internal floor ~$200K. Custom infra, governance, multi-entity, regulated workflows.

No setup fees. No installation fees. No PoCs. No free trials. Monthly subscription. 3-month minimum, then month-to-month. Annual prepay discount off at launch — reopen if procurement friction appears.

Business pricing structure (internal): base platform fee + per-seat scaling + module add-ons. Public-facing copy stays at "From $12,500/mo" — sales rep navigates the actual quote in discovery. The Will-CFO grid ($12,500 / $27,500 / $55,000 / $82,500) maps to seat counts (2–3 / 4–7 / 8–15 / 16–25) and lives in the rep's pricing sheet, not on the website.
AI Readiness ($15K standalone product from earlier docs) is officially killed. When we lean vertical, the audit IS the vertical: discovery interview becomes the audit, the stakeholder interviews become the data-layer build. No separate SKU needed.

While your agent runs, our team is behind it.

This is what keeps Tend agents running at a standard. It's also why ChatGPT can't replace us — they don't do this for you.

Security

Regular checks, audit trails, secret rotation, access controls, anomaly monitoring.

Versioning

Coordinated upgrades to your agent's tools, prompts, and workflows as the system evolves.

Model optimization

When a better model ships, we batch-test it across our client agents and route to the best one for your workload.

Weekly tuning

Review of agent performance, drift, and memory health. Adjustments without you needing to ask.

Support agent

AI support agent available 24/7. Flags issues to our human team when needed. Solo gets one human call per month included.

Memory health

Drift detection, contradiction surfacing, periodic data-layer review with the customer to keep the wiki true.

What ships when.

Now → Week 4

Tend Solo v1 ships

Configuration Room + Operation Room + Dashboard + 5 connectors (Gmail, Calendar, Notion, Drive, CRM) + scheduled onboarding rep + cron jobs with template library. Web app only. $2,500/mo, self-serve.

Week 4 → Week 12

Tend Business v1 (dental, Phase 1 workflows)

Multi-tenant workspace, 3-role permissions, stakeholder-interview onboarding, 3 starter modules (new-patient acquisition, recall/reactivation, research/competitor analysis). Non-PHI workflows only. First 10 customers from dental network.

Week 12 → Week 20

Tend Business HIPAA-eligible (Phase 2 workflows)

BAA + HIPAA-grade hosting + PHI handling. Adds treatment plan follow-up, insurance verification, chart-aware briefings, patient cohort analytics.

Week 20+

Second vertical

Port the Business platform to real estate, legal, or churches — based on which vertical's traction and operational fit looks strongest by week 18.

Ongoing, from launch

Tend Enterprise / Custom Builds

Available from day one for qualified prospects who need bespoke. Sales-led. Workshop-based engagement, custom proposal.

What's settled, so we can ship.

These are the decisions from iteration 4 (2026-05-15). Each one was deliberated; each one is locked. Re-open only with new information, not new opinion.

What we build this week.

  1. Tend Solo build spec. Engineering handoff doc. Configuration Room, Operation Room, Data Layer, Dashboard, connector specs, onboarding flow.
  2. Dental workflow definitions (Phase 1). Three starter modules specified end-to-end: new-patient acquisition, recall/reactivation, research/competitor analysis. With dental-advisor input from our network.
  3. Sales toolkit. Pitch deck, discovery questions, objection handling (especially ChatGPT comparison), pricing rationale, internal pricing grid.
  4. Dental advisor interviews. Book 3 from our network for workflow validation and language calibration before sales kickoff.
  5. HIPAA roadmap spike. Engineering scoping pass on BAA process, hosting requirements, PHI handling architecture. Inputs for the Week 12 milestone.

This is the source of truth. Build from here.

If anything in this document feels wrong, name it before we ship. Once Solo and Business v1 are in build, changes get expensive. Locking the structure now is what lets us move fast for the next 20 weeks.
